Join us for a targeted refresher on the Science of Reading, designed specifically for educators in grades 4–12. This professional development session will revisit the core principles of evidence-based reading instruction and explore how these practices can be effectively applied to support older students across content areas.
This session aims to generate awareness and interest for a student mentorship group we started called D3 (Discipline, Determination, Dreams). The group is designed to help middle school students develop a sense of community and belonging while being challenged in their integrity, accountability, respect, leadership, and service to better and improve not only their school but their community. Through our program, we have dramatically increased student GPA and greatly decreased the number of office referrals and discipline (ISS/OSS) received by students. We are in our fifth year. We started with 15 students and have grown to over 200 students. We want to bring awareness and generate interest in our group and give participants a blueprint on how to start and run their own mentorship program on their campuses. NEW FOR 2025 Previously, we had only a boy's group. In this school year, we added a girls group, G3. Our session will focus on informing others of the systems and goals we have established through sharing our learning process of improvements made over the five years.
