This professional development session introduces educators to the Arkansas Elementary Science Standards by providing a foundational understanding of the key components: Disciplinary Core Ideas (DCI), Science and Engineering Practices (SEP), and Crosscutting Concepts (CCC). Participants will gain insight into what each of these components represents and how they work together to create a cohesive science curriculum. Emphasis will be placed on helping educators recognize the distinctions between these elements and how they collectively support student learning in science. Educators will also explore resources that can help them implement the standards in their classrooms and get an overview of how these standards translate into practice on the state assessment (ATLAS).
