Attendees will need their own device to practice creating assessments in their discipline. Two main areas will be addressed to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of grading student responses using Pear assessments. Alternate Answers with Varied Point Values: The first focus will be on using alternate point values for alternate answers, allowing for automatic partial credit based on specific responses. Most examples will cover math and science short answer, numerical, expression, and equation entry problems. Additionally, we will demonstrate how this technique can be applied to question types used across all disciplines, such as multiple select, drag-and-drop, sorting, and matching questions. Rubrics for Grading: Attendees will practice creating both general and specific rubrics to streamline the grading of open-response questions. These rubrics can be applied to open-response questions across all disciplines to enhance consistency and efficiency in grading.

The Synectic and Concept Development Models are two different instructional models where students will use inductive teaching to show how students learn concepts. These models can be used for any amount of time available. Variations of the models are available, the models can be differentiated, and they are useful for all content areas.
